Sri Lankan Dhal Curry

Creamy Dhal Curry

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dhal
  • Finely chopped onion
  • Finely chopped 3 cloves of garlic
  • Few curry leaves
  • Sliced 2 Green chilies
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Curry powder
  • ½ teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1 ½ cup Coconut milk

Let’s cook:

  • First, wash dhal with clean water for 2 or 3 times
  • Then Put dhal in to a pan.
  • Then add all the other ingredients that I mention above and boil the dhal with other ingredients, with medium heat until it turn in to nice yellow with creamy content.
  • Now it is ready to serve.

Tempered Dhal Curry

Ingredients:

  • 1-cup dhal
  • Finely chopped onion
  • Finely chopped 3 cloves of garlic
  • Few curry leaves
  • Sliced 2 Green chilies
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Curry powder
  • ½ teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1 ½ cup Coconut milk
  • ¼ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin seeds

Let’s cook:

  • First, wash dhal with clean water for 2 or 3 times
  • Then Put dhal in to a pan.
  • Then add Turmeric Powder, Curry powder, Chili powder, coconut milk, salt to taste and boil them in medium heat until it turn in to nice yellow with creamy content.
  • Heat another pan with oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, and let them sauté in low heat for 20 seconds.
  • Then add curry leaves, chopped cloves of garlic, chopped onion, sliced green chilies and let them to sauté in low heat for 2 or 3 minutes.
  • Once the mixer is ready pour it in to the cooked dhal curry
  • Now it is ready to serve.
